Pati de Ca' Les Monges > Les Preses, Spain

The project aims to open the patio of the City Hall public square of Les Preses, a town of the Garrotxa Volcanic Zone in Spain, to the immediate surroundings, creating a transversal micro landscape by unifying the local fine grain of urban fabric with the magnificent natural scenery visible around.

The patio is divided into 4 distinct stripes, geometrically organized to emphasize it as a connective corridor rather than a destination target place, three of them paved with soft materials (sand, volcanic sand and pine bark) and one, more in contact with the administrative building,  with a hard material (wood).  Elegant minimalist lamp posts and benches are the only urban furniture, apart from the kids playground, to designate use zones.
