S.U.m. Housing_Assemini > Italy

The urban transversal lot connecting two roads in the metropolitan area of Cagliari, Italy, allows the apartment building to have two façades of equal dignity, though with different roles and aspects. The primary objective of the project is to prevent the four small units from being served by a single communal staircase, consequently appearing of belonging to a condominium; each unit, both those on the ground floor and those on the upper floor, is seen as a small row house and has its separate entrance, overlooking the parking area or served by private stairs. The soft volumetric play and the colour treatment in white and grey allow an independent reading of the four apartments and emphasize their personal and exclusive character. Balconies shielded by steel grilles complement them and securely expand the interior space to the public area on both sides of the building.
